LOCAL DEER
The following page will show deer from southeast Oklahoma. I will do my best to add to this page often. This part of the state has recently given up the new state record so the potential for some awesome deer is out there and hopefully we can get some of them here for your enjoyment. Good luck to all of you in the coming season. Be safe and be fair.

Don Ritter with a super tall 9 point buck from McAlester. This buck was taken with a recurve in 1996, he grossed 132 and weighed 129 pounds.
Don Ritter with 1995 buck taken at McAlester with recurve. His buck is on his right the other buck was taken by his son Tyler within the hour on the same day. Don's buck scored 118 and weighed in at 145 pounds. A fine 8 point buck.
Here are two fine bucks taken by Mike Thomas of Atoka Oklahoma. The buck on the left was taken in the 1996 rifle season with a 308. He weighed in at 142 pounds and scored 149 5/8 non-typical. The 1997 rifle season produced this beautiful 12 point buck. This deer weighed in at 140 pounds and scored 132 1/8. I expect will see another fine buck from Mike next year.
Well here is the new Oklahoma state record buck taken about 30 minutes south of here. Larry Luman arrowed this buck on November 21st 1997. This 16 point typical scored 185 6/8 setting a new state record. Hopefully this part of Oklahoma will produce some more of these bruisers if so I'll try and have them here next year. Congratulations to Larry Luman.
Stetson Oates of Atoka took this doe on his first ever bow hunt. Hope he doesn't think they will all be that easy. The smile tells it all.
Well that's it for now got a few more pictures to get on but watch out for next year. Please send me any suggestions you might have. Thanks and good luck. All the mounts on this page were done by Ronnie Watson of Caney Oklahoma.
